Protect yourself against Lyme Disease

Enjoy the great outdoors but #betickaware. Ticks are small, bloodsucking, spider-like creatures that live in grassland and woodland habitats. Some ticks can pass on infectious diseases when they bite you or your pets. Learn how to protect yourself, manage tick bites and stop the spread of diseases such as Lyme disease.

In Devon, Lyme disease cases are significantly higher than the national average. In 2021, Devon reported 5.6 cases per 100,000 people, compared to the England average of 1.5 cases per 100,000.

Seasonal Risk: April to June is the peak season for tick activity, coinciding with warmer weather and increaced outdoor activities.
