Prescriptions
Our dispensary is situated in the Cheriton Bishop Surgery.
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by:
- Via the NHS App where you can view and order your repeat medication directly.
- By direct e mail to the dispensary. This will require the details of the name of the drug required from your repeat prescription slip: cheritonprescriptions@nhs.net
- Send in the repeat request slip by post or drop it off at either surgery.
The dispensary team ask for 3 working days (4 working days for Dunsford Post Office Deliveries) for routine repeat prescription requests to enable timely processing.
Please note that the dispensary is closed between 1pm - 3pm daily so please collect prescriptions outside of these times.
Review dates and messages
Please look at the message on your paper prescription that advises when your next medication review is due. For simple medication this could be dealt with via email or telephone call. For medication for chronic diseases this would need to be with an appropriate healthcare professional.
Pickup location
Medication can be picked up from Cheriton or Christow surgeries and Dunsford post office (for those aged < 16 or > 60). Dunsford can be used for those people with a valid medical exemption.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your details are kept up to date with the Prescription Authority to ensure that fines are not imposed.
You must also ensure to advise the Dispensary team of any changes in your circumstances.
Delivery
For housebound patients a potential delivery service maybe available. Discussion with Acorn or Outreach patient support services is advised.
Acorn telephone number is: 01647 252701
Outreach telephone number is: 01647 279176
Contacting dispensary
The only way to contact the dispensing team is via email on cheritonprescriptions@nhs.net
You will receive a response on the same day to deal with your query.
Please avoid ringing into the Surgery to enquire about prescription requests and instead email the dispensary team.
Medical exemptions
There a range of reasons for being exempt from prescription charges or it maybe wise to have a prepayment card to avoid further prescription charges. Please discuss with the dispensary team. Please ensure you keep any exemption up to date to avoid any potential fines.
Full details of what this looks like and how to apply are here:
https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/help-with-health-costs/get-help-with-prescription-costs/
The current prescription charge is £9.90 per item, two items £19.80, three items £29.70 and four items £39.60.
Pre-payment certificates cost for 3 months = £32.05 and twelve months = £114.50
Stock Availability
From time to time we can experience difficulty in getting some medications. This is due to limitations in our wholesaler. If this happens, we apologise, and will try to source or find an appropriate alternative. If we can't then we can give you a signed prescription to take to one of the other big pharmacies who may be able to source themselves.
Out of Area Patients
We have a number of patients registered with us but live outside the practice area.
We are able to dispense medication to this group ONLY IF YOU LIVE MORE THAN ONE MILE FROM A DISPENSARY OR PHARMACY.
The NHS App is a useful resource for comprehensive interaction from the NHS.
If outside surgery hours, dial 111 if you need urgent help and advice. If an emergency, dial 999.
